This is how it works

The function principle of damko segment disk valves is very simple, but also very effective: The segment disk is fixed in the housing perpendicularly to the direction of flow. The size of the disk varies depending on the rated diameter of the valve, while the shape of the disk always remains the same. With the number of cut out segments, the Kvs-value can be maximized or, by covering the segments, minimized.

The valve ist 100% opened

| A second, mobile segment disk with an identical number of segments, which is rotated by means of a push rod acting tangentially on the disk, is mounted on top of the fixed segment disk. In this way, the flow section can be changed continually. For this purpose, virtually any desired flow rate can be achieved by the fine adjustment control. Another advantage of this function principle results from the tangential engagement of the connecting rod in the disk. Due to this arrangement, a high amount of torque is generated with low actuating force, allowing the use of energy saving drives. |

The mobile disk, regardless of the applied pressure differential, is constantly pressed onto the fixed disk by means of a spring package. Due to this, valve can be installed in any position. damko segment disk valves achieve a tightness level with a leak rate of less than 0.01% of the Kvs-value (DIN 3230-BN Part 3).
